Exa (formerly Metaphor) is a search engine designed around embeddings rather than keywords, with a content quality filter on top. The MCP server exposes search, find-similar, and content-extract tools.
It shines for research-oriented queries: "find papers similar to this one," "blog posts about X written by practitioners," "companies in space Y." For straightforward "what does this URL say" lookups, fetch is faster.
